On Wednesday, April 2nd, 2014, the Business Law class met at the Tribunal de Commerce de Paris in the 2nd arrondissement, along the
banks of the Seine.
They were welcomed by Juge Xavier Peyrou, a judge and mediator at the Tribunal de Commerce de Paris.
The Judge explained how a commercial case passes through the French Tribunal system. He also gave a brief history of the origins of the court,
and read the pleadings of one of its famous plaintiffs - Victor Hugo. Judge Peyrou also explained mediation and arbitration, and the benefits of
each type of dispute resolution. Then he took them on a tour of the historic building, including several courtrooms and benches.
